About

My name is Deric Wilson. I started my educational journey in 2012 when I explored the idea of being an educator while completing my first Bachelor's Degree. I changed my mind and ended up completing a degree in Exercise Science. Over the next ten years, while working in a variety of fields including fitness and sales, I was continuously drawn to education. In 2023 I decided to follow that passion for education and enroll in classes to become a high school history teacher.  I find history to be such a fascinating subject. So much of what happened in history seems like it could be out of a movie. Such fascinating tales have always drawn me to learning about history and I want to share that passion with students and explore the exciting stories that history tells.

I believe that students deserve to have passionate teachers that wish to explore subjects with them instead of teach to them. When a teachers goes on the adventure of learning with their students the students gain more knowledge and hopefully find an appreciation for the subject being taught.

Technology plays a crucial role in education. As our access to technology grows, so does the responsibility of teachers to educate their students about how it can be useful. Students must develop a foundational knowledge regarding the use of technology, and it's a teachers job to help create that knowledge.
