Lesson Plan

Performance Task: Product

In this performance task, we created a product that would represent something within out class that our students would produce. The importance of this task comes from putting ourselves in the shoes of our students. We were asked to not only create an assignment for our students but complete the assignment for our students.

In this assignment, I asked the students to create a timeline of important events from the expansion of the American West. All tools were available for the students and in this case, I used LucidChart to develop my timeline of expansion events.

Performance Task: Infographic

In this performance task we created and infographic on digital citizenship. It's important for teachers that use technology to understand the idea of digital citizenship and be able to teach that concept to their students. As current students grow up around with the influence of technology it's essential they understand how their online presence can stay online.

Performance Task: Communitcation

This performance task required the creation of a newsletter that would be sent to parents and guardians of the students in our class. It's important to communicate with parents and guardians because it gives them insight into what will be covered in the class, and allows them to understand what the students should be doing in the class. It helps them see what projects should be worked on and completed and when, along with the material that is going to be covered.

Performance Task: Rubric

This performance task involved creating a rubric for an assignment that students would complete. It's crucial for students understand how they are going to be graded in the class and on each assignment. It helps the students succeed by giving them a clear idea of what is expected for each assignment.

Performance Task: Hour of Coding

This performance task involved taking an hour of coding class. I chose to take a coding exercise focused on national flags. It was meant for high school aged students that would use forms of code to make various national flags. It was an exercise in geography and learning what each flag looked like. It's important in any subject being taught to show students various skills that can be used. Even in a history class, there are ways to show students about coding and other technologies.

Performance Task: Concept Map

This performance task involved taking the standard that we have focused on for our lesson plan and making a concept map from it. This concept map involved making various assignments and lesson ideas based off the standard. It's important for teachers to have because it serves as a visual representation of what the teacher plans to do to address the standard.

Performance Task: Learning Management System

In this performance task we were tasked with using a learning management system. In my case I used Google Classroom to create my future class and develop assignments and create a framework for the class. I believe platforms like this are crucial tools for teachers to use because they allow students to access information from anywhere.

Performance Task: 3D Model

In this performance task we were asked to create a 3D Model of something related to our subject. Tools like this are important in a subject like history because, as the technology grows, students will be able to use this to take the place of dioramas and create imagery that represent a certain subject. It's another avenue for students to be creative and create something that can be an artistic representation of a specific period in history.

Performance Task: Professional Development

During this performance task we took a professional development course. In this task, I took a course on distance learning. It's crucial for teachers to understand how they can effectively teach students they don't have in the physical classroom. As more and more learning shifts into an online environment, students deserve to have the same access to education online as those in person.

Performance Task: Collaboration

In this task we created a collaborative assignments for students to complete. In this assignment I developed a Google Jamboard in which students would create their own post and then collaborate with other students to comment and contribute to their work. The students would create sticky notes and reply to other students almost like a visual discussion board. It's important that teachers create a collaborative environment for students to work with each other because there is much they can learn from each other.
